There’s been a lot of talk lately about Web 2.0 and how it affects an organization’s advertising, website and brand. But what’s not often talked about is how social media affects public relations. Public relations involves starting a conversation with the media. To have this dialogue you need to communicate with editors in the way they want to be communicated with. That means the days of faxed press releases are long gone. Now a press release should be distributed via email or, better yet, RSS feed. Also, attachments in emails are frowned upon and instead a link to photos and images should be created on your website where editors can pull the images they need. This link is often a social media newsroom that is created, designed and managed to give the media a one-stop shop of pertinent news and images for your company. Web 2.0 is changing communications quickly and it’s important to keep up and stay in the know in regards to its effect on your business and your public relations.

To learn more about how social media and its effects on your PR initiatives, give us a call and we can discuss what’s right for you.
